Sánchez Ramírez

Sánchez Ramírez
Sánchez Ramírez is one of 31 Dominican provinces and is located in the center of the country in the subregion known as the Cibao Cibao Oriental, in the Valle del Yuna. Its capital is the city of Cotuí.

The province was created in 1952. Before its creation, was a town in the Duarte province since June 18, 1945, had been town in the province of La Vega since the founding of the Republic.




Duarte, east and south with the province of Monte Plata and on the west by the provinces Monsignor Nouel and La Vega ..

Cevicos


Cevicos is one of the four municipalities comprising the province. It has an area of 650 km ² and is located in the southeastern part of the Northern Region or Cibao. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Villa Riva, on the south by the municipality of Yamasá; the east by the municipalities of Sabana Grande de Boya and Monte Plata, and the west by the municipality of Cotuí.



This stands out pineapple crop in this also lies the small town of Cave.Cotuí (capital of the province)





By resolution of August 24, 1861, issued by General Pedro Santana, on behalf of the Crown of Spain on political division of the territory of the Republic, became Cotuí Weapons Command Political and Military Government of La Vega, returning to acquire its common condition by Decree No. 812 dated January 24, 1865, issued by the government restored.


Fantino Township

Fantino In 1952 he became Borough of the new province of Sanchez Ramirez, created at the same time it by Act of 3 March 3208 that indicated the year, was given the name in honor Fantino Fantino Falco Francisco priest who also distinguished himself as an educator in our country. Undoubtedly, Rincon said his work cited above, pag.197, Fantino is the municipality of the province Sánchez Ramírez, after Cotuí has undergone further development in terms of socio-economic aspect, backed up by public institutions and their private companies.


Cevicos Township

Villa La Mata

This community is one of the youngest in the territory which forms the province of Sanchez Ramirez. Boroughs


Angelina





In 1772 during the colonial government of José Solano Pot, founded the town of Angelina, her original name, San Rafael de Angelina, named after the wife of the Solano, Doña Rafaela Ortiz Angelina, at the same time began construction of a port, Mr. Hernando Alonzo, precise order of the governor Solano Pot was the builder. The port was used to transport by canoe, following the route of Camu and Yuna rivers, cocoa, snuff and other agricultural products to the Samaná Bay to be exported to Spain.
